What If It's Really, Really Good.

Because Maker's Mark is Maker's Mark, everything they do generates push-back. I'd like to modify the plane of the discussion a little bit. Assume for the sake of argument that the new Maker's Mark 46 is really, really good. Maybe one of the best things you've ever tasted. Then how would you feel about it?

well that's assuming a lot, but if true, I would be buying many bottles as soon as they hit the shelf. Personally, I think my wallet is safe.

I think it's great for two reasons.

First, the flavor profile of MM is on the softer side, so if there is one bourbon I could think of that would really allow variations in the barrel to shine, it's MM.

Second: although they're not as articulate in the video about it as they might be, I think it's important that they're not just pulling barrels from a specific corner of the warehouse, or mixing up their batches to hit a different flavor profile. They're actually changing the production process. That's the kind of innovation that I like to see.

I'm hoping it is. I'm thinking it might be. I'm looking forward to it.
