Our client was United Distillers in Stamford CT. The Brief we received from Marketing Director was succinct: design visually sumptuous ultra high-end packaging for the 2 branded rare bottling. In 2021 it's a thrill to see these limited edition bourbon attain special status among collectors. As a design man, the Rare Bourbons packaging project was most creatively fulfilling. I paid $100. It was THE finest bourbon I've ever had. In 2000 I lived in Atlanta and worked briefly for an entrepreneur that wanted me to find and buy every bottle of Joseph Finch and Henry Clay I could find...at any price. This was in the early days of internet searching but I did manage to find bottles around the country. Some would ship it...I drove to Tennessee and bought some...spent over $18,000. This man did not drink at all...gave the bottles away to friends and investors.
